1.0.30 — A new editor, and Pause that really pauses.
A redesigned editor on Mac and Windows, and recording controls that do exactly what they say.
A new editor
- One workspace with two outputs, Video and Guide. Your snapshots sit in a Story rail beside the video, and on the timeline.
- A timeline that shows what’s really there: a filmstrip of your video, your computer’s sound and your microphone as waveforms, and your zooms, blurs, camera, iPhone and text, each on its own lane.
- Edit straight on the preview: drag and resize the camera bubble and blur regions. Click the camera to bring its settings into view.
- A new Export sheet: video in the shape and quality you choose, GIFs, guides as PDF, PowerPoint or Keynote, and text. A progress bar shows how far an export has got.
Recording
- Pause really pauses. Your screen, sound and camera all hold, and the paused part is left out of the recording, so it carries straight on when you resume.
- Your microphone, your call. Turning the camera on switches the microphone on, and you can switch it off before you record. Mid-recording, the Mic button on the recording toolbar mutes it, or turns it on if you started without it. The bars show your voice level.
- Turn your camera on and off as often as you like while recording your screen. Each part becomes its own camera layer you can edit.
On Windows
- DirectX media support: video is decoded and encoded on your graphics card, so recording and export are much faster — a five-minute take exports in about a minute on a typical laptop.
- iPhone mirroring decodes with DirectX too, so it uses a fraction of the computer it did.
Fixes
- Your camera and iPhone now line up with your screen and your voice from the very first frame.
- The recording timer shows exactly how much you’ve recorded, with paused time left out.
- Snapshots from an iPhone recording you paused now land at the right moment in the video.
- Exports finish promptly, and quitting straight after an export no longer stalls (Mac).
- Signing in no longer stalls on some networks, the editor’s filmstrip shows, and the camera bubble stays still during a full-screen recording (Windows).
