1.0.31 — Click a thing, edit that thing.

On Mac and Windows: the editor’s side panel now follows what you click, Guide is built around your snapshots, and you can draw on the video.

A panel that follows your click

  • Everything in your recording has a row in the side panel: Screen video, Background, Camera, iPhone, Zooms, Blurs, Text, Annotate and Sound. Click a row, or the thing itself in the preview, and its controls open right under it.
  • Each layer has one switch. Where something is only there for part of the recording, the panel shows what you can do at the playhead and what applies to the whole recording.

Guide, built around your snapshots

  • One list. The moments you pin while recording and the snapshots you add afterwards sit together, in order. To add one, scrub the video to the right frame and press + (or K).
  • Each snapshot’s write-up lives in the panel. Type it, or let ScreenSolo write it for one token, and undo if you prefer your own words.
  • Annotate a snapshot with a pen, numbered pins and text labels. Your marks go into every export: PDF, PowerPoint, Keynote and video.

Draw on the video

  • Open the Annotate row and the pen is ready. A stroke becomes a line, an arrow, a circle or a box; a click drops a numbered pin.
  • A mark shows for three seconds from where you drew it. Drag it on the timeline to change when, and choose whether marks appear or animate in.
  • Marks stay with what they point at, through zooms, and they are part of the exported video.

On Windows

  • The camera and iPhone layers take their timing from the recording itself, so a layer never runs ahead of your screen or your voice.
  • The camera bubble sits above the iPhone layer, so your face is never hidden behind the phone.

Fixes

  • Signing in no longer waits half a minute on some networks.
  • A blur added at the playhead no longer flickers while the video is paused (Mac).
  • Deleting a snapshot from the Story rail now deletes it.
  • At 125% scaling, a blur region is drawn where its rectangle is, the camera bubble’s selection ring sits on the bubble, and the editor panel no longer clips its controls on a narrow window (Windows).

Download the latest version — updates are free on both tiers, and ScreenSolo updates itself on Mac and Windows.
