Open any recording and it plays in ScreenSolo's editor. The key idea: everything is a layer. The camera bubble, zooms, text, and background sit on top of your video — so you can change any of them after the fact, and the original recording is never touched.

The timeline

Every effect is a chip on a lane under the video — zooms, camera moments, text. Drag a chip to move it in time, stretch its edges to retime it, or select it to restyle it in the right-hand panel. Use the ＋ on the playhead to add something new at the current moment.

Your camera is a layer too

If your webcam was on while you recorded — desktop or iPhone — the camera is saved as its own layer, not baked into the video. After you stop you can:

  • Move it — click any spot on the position grid, including dead centre
  • Resize it with the size slider
  • Hide it for a stretch — drag along the camera ribbon to carve out the quiet parts
  • Feature it full-size for the moments you're talking to camera

You don't have to start with the camera on, either. Turn it on mid-recording and it joins as an editable layer from that moment; switch it off and its recording stops instantly. (Turn it on a second time in the same take and that later stretch is part of the video itself, not a layer.)

Your iPhone is a layer too

On Pro desktop takes with Smart Capture's Animate clicks on, the mirrored phone records as its own layer as well. Move it, resize it, hide it, feature it — or add a device frame that exports with the video. The full story: The iPhone layer.

Backgrounds and padding

Put the recording on a backdrop so it looks polished, not plain: a colour, a gradient (still or animated), or an image — with padding and rounded corners you control.

Text, cursor, and blur

  • Text banners — add a title anywhere on the video, drag it into place, pick the font, size and colour. The text always fits — never cut off.
  • Cursor styles — make the pointer big and easy to follow, add a glow or a click ripple, pick its colour.
  • Blur — hide an email address or password for any stretch of the video. No re-recording.

Two ways to edit

Do it by hand on the timeline — or just type what you want with Direct the video: *"blur my email at 0:12 and hide the camera until 0:30."*
