Record your desktop with a mirrored iPhone on screen, and on Pro the phone isn't burned into the video. It records as its own layer — a separate track you can rearrange after you stop.
What you need
- Pro, and
- Smart Capture's Animate clicks turned on before you record (Smart Capture).
Record your desktop as normal with the mirrored phone in view. When you stop, the phone shows up as its own layer in the editor.
What you can do with it
In the editor, the phone works like the camera bubble:
- Move it anywhere on the frame
- Resize it — small in a corner, or large and centre-stage
- Hide it for any stretch of the video
- Feature it full-size for the moments that matter
- Add a device frame — a clean phone bezel around the mirror, and it exports with the video

Direct the video understands the phone as a layer too:
- *"Hide the iPhone at 0:10"*
- *"Feature the phone"*
- *"Put a device frame on it"*

Free recordings bake the phone in exactly as you saw it on screen — it's part of the video, not a layer. Everything else about the recording works the same.
